Prayers and Announcements

Announcements & Prayers (Week of 13-19 October 2024)

(Weekly Prayer Schedule Follows the Announcement)

  • “Fright to Light” Display:  The children and youth Sunday School classes have written Bible verses on “pumpkins” to share God’s light with others.  Each “pumpkin” is printed with a Bible verse about God’s love giving light to our path.  Take a moment to reflect on each one.  These treat-filled “pumpkins” will be distributed to the residents of Lakewood Care Center after our church family has had an opportunity to enjoy the display.  Thanks to the children and youth Sunday School classes for this beautiful reminder to let our light shine for Jesus this fall.

  • Index Cards:  The Prayer Teams produce Prayer Schedules each week as prayer starters to help our church family broaden our prayer focus and unite the church in praying for specific causes.  If you find these prayer schedules helpful and enjoy using them, please write “YES” on one of the colored index cards located on every pew and place it in the offering plate this morning.

  • Bible Study:  Join us for Bible Study on the book of Genesis each Monday.  Two sessions are offered for your convenience: one at 9:30am and a second at 6:00pm.  No special materials are needed for the study beyond your favorite Bible.  Please invite a friend and join us as we study God’s Word together.   This week’s discussion will focus on chapters 6 & 7.

                               LET’S PRAY                                 OCTOBER 13-19, 2024

SCRIPTURE –

New King James Version

Prayer Starter

SUN

1 Kings 17:15-16 - So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah.

Lord forgive us when we doubt You. You will get us through whatever happens. Help us remember past times that You came through!

MON

Exodus 16:3-4 - …”For you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you.”

Father, Your Word goes on to say that this was a promise but also a test of obedience. Thank You for blessing us abundantly because we have obeyed.

TUES

Exodus 16:12-13 - …And you shall know that I am the Lord your God. So it was that quails came up at evening and covered the camp, and in the morning the dew lay all around the camp.

Dear Jesus, When we bow our heads to thank You for the food we’re about to eat, please help us remember the people it took to bring what we’re eating to our tables! Amen

WED

Exodus 17:5-6 - …”Also take in your hand your rod which you struck the river, and go. Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.”

Holy Father, Forgive us when we take water for granted! It grows our crops, we stand under it to shower, we physically can’t live without it. We need it daily just like we need You.

THUR

Mark 1:40-41 - Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”

Oh Jesus, Please make our hearts like Yours! Fill us with that kind of compassion to take a risk on someone when everybody else says “you’re wasting your time”.

FRI

1 Corinthians 15:57 - But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Father, We celebrate all kinds of victories. It feels good to win but never let us forget the most important victory… Your victory against sin and death on the Cross for our sakes!

SAT

Psalm 139:5 - You have hedged me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me.

Lord Jesus, We lay claim to this verse! You go before us and You’ve got our backs. You give us Your hand of protection. You are an awesome God!
