Prayers and Announcements

Announcements & Prayers (Week of 9-15 June 2024)

(Weekly Prayer Schedule Follows the Announcements)

  • Thanks:  A HUGE thanks is extended to everyone who made our VBS week so successful.  Through the VBS program, we were successful in helping connect kids with the good news of Jesus, as well as further developing connections among our church family.  From the generous donation of time given by our volunteers, to the generous donations of supplies and food from those who gave materially, to those who helped build props and decorate–your involvement, in whatever form it was given, is truly appreciated.

  • Weekly Prayer Meeting:  Join us for a weekly prayer meeting in the sanctuary beginning at 10:00am on Mondays.  We’ll pray for the church, our community, our nation and the world.

  • Men’s Chorus:  There will be no Men’s Chorus practice this week.

  • Trustees:  The Trustees will meet this Wednesday at 6:00pm.

  • Choir:  The choir will practice this Wednesday at 7:00pm.

  • Ice Cream Social:  Mark your calendars now for a church-wide ice cream social on Saturday, June 29, beginning at 4:00pm at the home of John and Jane Cutchin.  More details to come.

  • 5th Sunday Luncheon:  Please join us for a covered-dish luncheon on June 30 at 12:30pm (following the 11:00am service).

  • Methodist Men & Women:  The Methodist Men and Women will not meet for their regular gatherings until September.

  • Prayers for our Church Family:  As a way of furthering the love and blessings of God in our church family, we’d like to encourage you to begin praying regularly for other members of our church family.  A good method to use is to take your new church directory and, beginning with the family who appears in the directory after your page, pray daily for the members of that family.  Each day pray for the next family and when you reach the end of the directory, start over from the beginning.  Your prayers are greatly appreciated and one of the greatest treasures of our church family.

  • Online Giving Now Available:  For those who wish to give to the church electronically, you may visit our website (fairfieldmethodist.org) and click on the “Online Giving” tab.  Thank you for your prayerful and generous support to Fairfield as we seek to share the good news of Jesus Christ with a lost and hurting world.

  • Adult Sunday School:  We have two adult Sunday School classes you’re invited to join.  The larger class meets in the fellowship hall, while a smaller class meets in a classroom downstairs.  Whether you’re looking for a large group or a smaller group to connect with, we’d love for you to join us each Sunday for discussion and fellowship.

  • Prayer Schedule:  A new Prayer Schedule for this week is available on the table in the hallway.  Prayer Schedules are produced by our Prayer Teams and provided to help us broaden our prayer focus and unite the church in praying for specific causes.  Please pick up a copy today and join us in united prayer.

  • Ushers:  Anyone interested in volunteering as an usher (in either service) is invited to contact Greg Sunday.

  • Prayer Warriors Needed:  Would you like to receive weekly prayer requests and join other prayer warriors in praying for specific needs in our Fairfield family and community?  You can sign-up by sending an email indicating your interest to fairfieldprayer@gmail.com and start receiving weekly prayer requests.

SCRIPTURE

New International Version

Prayer Starter

SUN

Proverbs 15:4 - “The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life; but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.”

Oh, Lord, how many times have I spoken harshly to my spouse, children, friends, and acquaintances. Please help me as I strive to speak only kind to others.

MON

Psalms 91:1 - “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.”

Father, sometimes I feel afraid, and worry about the health of myself, or others, the conditions of the world we live in, among so many others. Please assure me that as long as I trust in you, I will be safe and protected.

TUES

Romans 1:16 - “I  am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, and then for the Gentile.”

Lord, I am assured that Your Word is truth for all mankind that choose to believe. Please help me and other believers to share the Truth with others so they may too accept salvation.

WED

2 Corinthians 4:18 - “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Father God, It is easy to get caught up in the fears and worries of this day. Help me to remember that this life is only temporary, and I will live eternal life with you in glory.

THUR

Ephesians 5:8-9 - “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light, for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.”

Lord, I pray that my heart and mind, which is set on you and following you, will show in my actions around others. May I take every opportunity to tell others about you and what you have done in my life.

FRI

Philipians 4:13 - “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”

Father, God, So many times I try to deal with problems on my own, and I fail miserably. Help me to give my worries to You and ask for Your guidance and the strength to deal with whatever I may face.

SAT

Hebrews 12:5 - “And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: My sons, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and punishes everyone He accepts as a son.”

My Father, sometimes I think that I am not loved by you because of not having life turn out as I had planned. May I look at these situations and see that it was You, Father, that did allow a plan to go as I wanted, because you do love me, just as a parent loves a child. A parent has to teach a child right from wrong by sometimes disciplining them. Thank you, Lord, that you love me that much, and help me to understand the reason when something doesn’t go “my way.”
